These two people right here are troopers! You wouldn't know it from these photos, but it was unbearably cold outside on this early March day in Connecticut.
I grabbed my friend and assistant, Heather, to go for a little drive from Rockville, MD to Wallingford, CT to capture some engagement portraits of my youngest sister Sarah, and her betrothed, Chris.
Needless to say they are happy!
Being a people first portrait photographer, I need to remind myself to turn engagement rings out toward the camera. This is such a sweet shot though, and I loved the fire escape style stairs behind them with the setting sun reflecting in the windows.
Seriously one of my favorites! I love a good white wall, especially a brick one. This was the side of a Wells Fargo.
Unfortunately, there was a ton of wind, which made the already freezing cold day feel even colder. Some shots just weren't going to happen, like this one with the cute red hat. Even though this is more of a blooper, I still love it!
We took a break from the cold in a sweet little candy shop and drank some hot cocoa. I snapped a few shots through the picture window, not knowing if they'd really work. I love! (If you look closely, you can see the reflection of my camera and parka!)
Sometimes, when you direct subjects that are in love to be in the best light, you can just let them do what they do best... love and snuggle! <3
After patiently smiling their way through the golden hour, extreme cold, heavy winds, and an impromptu session in a candy shop, you just need pizza... in a box car! Only in Connecticut!
